"BARN OWLS" - THE MUSICAL
'Barn Owls' is a new musical I have been working on for the last 18 months. The show is a musical comedy set in a fictitious village near Cambridge in England in the mid 1980's. It is very loosely based on the years that I was living there and studying music at the Cambridge Music College, and the musicians that I was playing with in a band called 'Saffron Jack'. (There are some videos of the band on the website, when we had a reunion at the Saffron Walden Town Hall in 2009 with all the original members. They are on the VIDEOS page if you are interested).
The storyline follows the lives of a family living on a farm in a small village near Cambridge. The family consists of four young adults aged between
18 and 25, (still living at home) who are all gifted musicians and singers, thanks to their musical mum.
They have put together a band with members of the family, and three friends who live in the Cambridge area.
The story follows the ups and downs of their musical, and personal, lives, as they try to "make it" in the very crowded
1980's music business in the U.K.
Below are some samples of the songs from Barn Owls. There are 16 songs in the show. There are two Acts, and three Scenes in each act.
I'll be adding more songs here over the next few weeks as they are final mixed and mastered.
Hope you enjoy them. Thanks for listening.
